HEMA Paris Open 2016
Good armor as seen on Paris Open 2016, a HEMA tournament. I think this ought to be the future armor set for WEKAF/GSBA.
Most of these HEMA clubs use point sparring for tournaments and in their training sessions. Continuous sparring, however, is still the best way to improve your skills in addition to disarms and THRUSTS.

German Longsword (Burbank, CA)
The European martial arts collective formed its own WEKAF called, HEMA Alliance. This is the longsword tournament as reported by NY Times & Al Jazeera. If you have any weapons training in the past (kendo, arnis, etc.), then you will find this sport very exciting. The longsword is just under fifty inch; other training weapons include sabre (+/- 40 inch) and the cutlass type (+/- 30 inch). Find your local schools/clubs here.
